What is Capoeira?
Capoeira is a martial art that combines elements of self-defense with community-oriented philosophy, ritual, musical instruments, song, dance, and acrobatics. It began with enslaved Africans in Brazil. By design, Capoeira resembles a dance, as two persons exchange synchronized movements in an enclosed circle called a roda. Capoeira derives from a rich history of building global communities and providing students, capoeiristas, with multiple benefits.
